about me - Linda degner, lpc

I believe that inviting a counselor into your life takes courage and I take that honor very seriously. I am trained in EMDR , PCIT, Theraplay, and TF-CBT. I have significant experience working with victims of sexual abuse, physical abuse and neglect, children in foster care, couples, and Christian Counseling.

At Charis Counseling, we offer compassionate, professional counseling grounded in both clinical excellence and Christian faith. We believe true healing happens when emotional, relational, and spiritual needs are all addressed.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at linda@chariscounselingtherapy.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Yes!  We accept many insurance plans.  Please feel free to reach out to find out if we accept your insurance and what your insurance covers.  The counselor should let you know if there will be any copays or out of pocket costs or if your insurance plan will cover the full cost.

It usually involves intake questions about your history, current struggles, and goals for therapy.

Yes, but with exceptions: threatened harm to self or others, child/elder abuse, or court orders.

Sessions usually last between 50-55 minutes but can be less depending on need.  How often someone comes to counseling depends on many factors.  Often clients will start attending once per week and then decrease over time based on progress.

You should feel safe, comfortable, and heard. It is recommended to give a therapist 2-3 visits to determine if it is a good fit. If you do not feel it is a good fit you can ask for a referral or simply let the counselor know it's not a good fit and find a different counselor.

No. Counselors (like LPCs or LCSWs) provide talk therapy, while psychiatrists are medical doctors who prescribe medication.

Absolutely not.  You are welcome whatever you believe or do not believe.  As a Christian I approach all clients with the tenants of faith including grace, compassion, and truth.
